This is what I put on my wieners...

I love sauerkraut (must be the German in me).  Did you know that this stuff is 0 weight watcher points +?  Have you forgotten about this stuff?  Do you want to jazz up your tasteless fat-free hotdog?  If the answer is yes, then this stuff is for you.  It really makes the hot dog more filling, like you have really had a meal.  You can buy this Steinfeld's brand at Walmart.

Say what? Are you sure?

Over at my Momma and Pappy's house they always have treats for the little people.  As soon as we get to their house, the little people head right for the treat drawer.  One of the things in that drawer are Rice Krispie Treats.  My mouth always drools watching them eat them.

Well the other day I had some coupons for some rice krispie treats and they were also on sale, so I was able to get an awesome deal on them.  The kids were so excited to have some at our house.  Every time I buy something, I figure out the weight watcher points and write the points directly on the package.  Even if I don't intend to eat it.  Just in case I accidentally drop something into my mouth (haha).  Well guess what?????

These are only 2 weight watcher points + for one bar.  I couldn't believe it.  My new favorite treat!  You should have seen my Pappy's face when I told him.  He couldn't believe it either.  Say what?  Are you sure?  Yes!!!  I am sure!

Butter, I love butter!

I love butter!  You know...  The real stuff... Not that margarine puke.  Butter is super fattening.  Really, really, REALLY fattening.  Now how best to use it?

You spray it!

Ok ok OK!  It is not butter, it is pretty much crap like margarine, but let me tell you.... It's a lot better than nothing and for 0 calories and 0 ww points + you can't go wrong.  I have tried several brands and I like the Parkay brand the best.  I spray my vegetables, my bread, my popcorn, my finger, and much more with this stuff and it is actually pretty good.  I was just kidding about the finger part.

Saying goodbye to butter is really hard, but when you think about the things you could eat instead of butter, it makes it a lot easier.  Spray butter rocks!

Fat Friday...

This really makes me sick.  I can't believe I let myself get this way.

Let's talk dressing...

My Pappy knows that my very favorite salad dressing is bleu cheese.  He also knows how sick of Balsamic Vinegar I am.  Pappy surprised me with this stuff and it is awesome.  It is 2 ww points + per serving vs. the 5 points of the regular stuff.  I love it.

Sometimes you need to dip.  This Ranch is found at any grocery store that sells Western Family.  Around here it would be Dicks, Macys, Harmons, Fresh Market and Reams.  This dressing weighs in at 1 point + per serving.

Are you tired of the same old, same old?  Try this Western Family Thousand Island.  It is only 1 point + per serving and very tasty on your garden salads.

Fancy shmancy, Maple Grove Farms Fat Free Poppy seed dressing.  I love this dressing on a nice "strawberry and romaine" lettuce or "grape and romaine" lettuce salad.  This is only 1 ww point + per serving.  Good stuff.

This is my emergency dressing.  You know those days when you have to attend a party and you need to save up some points.  Or the days you are out of points, but still are hungry.  You can whip up a salad and use this Maple Groves Sugar Free raspberry vinaigrette for 0 ww points +.  Yes 0 points!  And it is good too!

I use these dressings when I dress my salads.  How have you been dressing yours?  Did you know that most salad dressing is so fattening and high in calories that you are better off having a Big Mac?  Salads are not always the wisest choice, unless you skip the dressing.  My WW instructor, the amazing Cindy told us to always order our dressing on the side and to dip our fork in the dressing and then spear up some salad.  You will hardly use any dressing this way and have dressing with every bite.  Thanks Cindy for the tip!

Who says you can't have pasta?

Having yourself some simple spaghetti makes for a nice change from your normal meat and vegetable dinner.

All you need is a packet of Macormick thick and zesty spaghetti sauce mix (introduced to me by my hubby), tomato paste, water and pasta of your choice.

Cook the sauce according to package directions (I do not use the oil and you can't even tell).  Cook your pasta according to the package directions.

When you are done, measure out 1 cup of pasta = 5 points + and 1/2 cup sauce = 1 points +.  Serve with a salad and there you have a very low point dinner.  It is also great with some ground beef, but I usually don't use it to save on points.

While you are at it why don't you spray butter on some 1 point bread, sprinkle garlic powder on top, and bake at 350 degrees until toasted?  MMMM  Now I am super hungry!

I never thought I would eat that....

About a month ago my friend Linda brought me back some fresh oranges, lemons and grapefruit from her vacation home in Arizona.  At first I said no to the grapefruit.  I remember hating grapefruit since I was a kid.  Every time I would see someone eating a grapefruit, I would wonder why.  Blahhhh, it made chills up my spine just seeing someone eat one.  Then Linda told me if I put a little brown sugar on them and microwave for a few seconds the kids may just love them.  So I took them.  The kids hated them (I knew it).  I decided to try one (without the sugar of course) and guess what?  I LOVE THEM!  I have had a grapefruit almost every day since.  Amazing how things change when you are dieting and older.  I appreciate healthy food so much more, especially if it is 0 points +.

Have you tried anything new that you thought you would never like?  If not, do it!  I dare you!
